Is it worth it to see an Orbital Sciences launch from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility? Suggestions about travel to and from Norfolk? |

If it's worth it is largely up to you. Driving from Norfolk is a little under two hours plus a big toll (I think about $15) for the 14 mile long Bay Bridge-Tunnel. I've been for one launch already and there's plenty of good views and crowds aren't bad, especially for weekday launches. I watched from the causeway between Chincoteague Island and the Wildlife Refuge. On satellite views it looks bad but all that "ground" you're looking across is actually marshland with grasses only a few inches tall. The pad is visible from there. | |
