Oh, the memories those bring! I remember being so enamored by rockets and the space program I'd get excited spotting these playground fixtures, demanding a stop to investigate (Pops never did, but that's OK!). The 'Los Angeles' model is the most familiar. Oh, we deprive our children with these soft, rounded, non-threatening milquetoast playgrounds we give them today. |

Wonderful stuff! -- and how many are old enough to remember those rockets that would sit outside the doors of markets and dime stores, usually next to the mechanical horses?Some you straddled like a horse, some you sat in - put in a nickel and they'd gyrate around for a minute - some had beeping ray guns! | |
