The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project command module (CM 111) has been re-positioned and provided a new glass case at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. Perry Roth-Johnson, assistant curator of aerospace science, documented the work on Twitter.
Our Apollo-Soyuz capsule is getting a new glass case! Yesterday [Jan. 25] we took off the old plex case.
We've started building the new case! (This is the ceiling frame.) [Jan. 30]
With the ceiling frame lifted, you can see a mirror we installed to peek inside Apollo's docking port. [Feb. 8]
[ASTP] got hauled over to its new home! We'll build the rest of the case around it. [Feb. 8]

More from Perry Roth-Johnson, assistant curator of aerospace science:
We lowered the ceiling frame to its final position. Next week: install glass walls (with help from a suction cup robot!) [Feb. 10]
Getting ready to install the first glass wall! [Feb. 12]
We still need to make final adjustments to the mirror angle, but already you can see down the docking portal! [Feb. 12]
5 of 12 installed...and that's it for today folks. Stay tuned for more tomorrow! [Feb. 12]

I liked how they put a cushion in between the door and the frame so it would slam shut.

More from Perry Roth-Johnson, assistant curator of aerospace science:
12th and final glass (the case door) going in! [Feb. 14]
We angled the mirror down so you can see inside the docking port that US and Soviet astronauts crawled through. [Feb. 14]

Historic Apollo-Soyuz spacecraft gets new display at California Science Center

NASA's last Apollo command module to launch into space has shed its skin to provide a better look at the first United States spacecraft to fly a joint mission with Russia.

The American space capsule that made up one half of the historic 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) has traded its Plexiglas cover for a new glass display case at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. The six-sided enclosure not only affords the public a clearer view of the three-seat spacecraft, but also meets new conservation requirements set by the Smithsonian, which owns the artifact.

As someone who works in a museum, I have to say that this display is impressive. Well done to all those involved.
