I continue to be amazed at what Cosmosphere has.The area near the stairway to the museum has a changing exhibit. Presently it has an exhibit on "Space and Popular Culture".
I was amazed as a Baseball and Space Fan to see a foul ball by Boog Powell of the Baltimore Orioles during the 1966 World Series. He fouled it of on a pitch from the great Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers..The game was at Dodger Stadium, and the lucky fan was part of a party from North American Aviatioin, the builder of Apollo.
After the game, the NAA person came upon Roger Chaffee, Ed White, and Gus Grissom at dinner. Theyknew each other, and autographed the ball.
A letter fron the NAA person noting the circumstnces is part of the exhibit.
Neat!
The exhibit is near the Stained Galss Memorial to Apollo I, Challenger STS 51L, and Columbia STS 107 Crews.
Neat stuff.
