I was at the Kansas Cosmosphere this past weekend and they had complete Hasselblad cameras that had flown and also components to cameras from all the Apollo missions. In light of this discussion, are those legitimate too? |

Yes, the cameras the Cosmosphere displays are as described. The collection includes Alan Shepard's Apollo 14 lunar surface-used Hasselblad.  |

Oh awesome. Thanks Robert. It was mentioned in the auction for the Apollo 15 camera that: The offered camera no.1038 was one of 14 cameras used on the moon during the APOLLO missions 11-17... The other 13 cameras were left on the moon. ...so I was perplexed (I don't think the Cosmosphere would lie to me). The film magazine display that is directly in front of the photo Robert posted is amazing. I might post photos of it later.  |

In addition to Irwin's and Shepard's, Scott's and Cernan's Hasselblad EDCs were also returned to Earth. Only Shepard's however, has been authoritatively identified in recent years (at the Cosmosphere). The disposition of Scott's and Cernan's HEDCs is unknown, and it is not clear if the camera sold at WestLicht was indeed Irwin's. |

The worn-out sticker on the side of the returned Apollo 14 Hasselblad camera looks more like "LMP" than "CDR" to me in this NASM photo. |

The mission transcripts at the end of EVA-2 indicate there was some confusion in Houston about which EVA camera they wanted brought back. At one point, both the CDR and LMP cameras were placed in the ETB. Maybe both cameras came back. |

The Apollo 14 Hasselblad on display at the Kansas Cosmosphere appears to be S/N 1036. But post-flight photo S71-34039 of the Apollo 14 CDR EVA Hasselblad camera in the ALSJ clearly shows S/N 1027. |
