I know I am thinking very ahead in the future but what will come of all of the Orion boilerplates?

I know that the one they used for the splash tests is right now on tour and it may be in DC at the end of April/ early May. During the tour you can sign it which I plan to do.

Right now it's in the KSC Visitor Complex Rocket Garden. I shot this photo today.

Judging by the weather, it appears to still be doing splash tests.

You'll notice the hatch missing on the side, so it would not survive the splash test today.

The nice thing about having a Commander's Club card is you can come and go as often as you want, regardless of weather. Living five miles away helps too.

That particular Orion was not used for splash tests. It was the fit-check mockup for the Pad Abort-1 test built in 2008 at Langley Research Center.

It was recently moved from the White Sands Missile Range to Kennedy Space Center by way of three public appearance stops.

Thanks for the correction. You ask five people out here, you get five different answers.

All times are CT (US)
