 Half a century ago this week, the Apollo 8 crew returned to Houston after "saving 1968" with a daring flight to the moon. The following year 1969 would bring even more spectacular success for Apollo. |

Am I correct in thinking that this crew and the Apollo 9 crew are the only complete crews still with us? |

I've often thought Apollo 8 was lost in the shadow of Apollo 11, but 8 was no less daring - and the first time humans left the cradle. This year's commemorations have been a wonderful corrective, and thankfully all three astronauts are still around to see their achievement appreciated so much. Thank you for posting this photo. |
