Half a century ago this week, there was frantic activity at the Kennedy Space Center. With Apollo 9 standing ready at Pad 39A, LM-4 for Apollo 10 was prepared for mating with the Spacecraft/LM Adapter in the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building. Meanwhile LM-5 had just arrived from Grumman.

Great photo of LM "Snoopy"...

Talking about the Apollo 9 mission, do we know above which area the Apollo 9 LM "Spider" burned up in Earth's atmosphere?

According to the publication "Apollo" by R.W.Orloff and D.M.Harland "the descent stage remained in orbit until March 22, 1969 and impacted the Indian Ocean off the coast of eastern Africa". The ascent stage entered the atmosphere on Oct. 23, 1981, place of entry not given.
