 Chief of the Astronaut Office Al Shepard leads Gemini 6 astronauts Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford from the crew quarters in the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building at Cape Kennedy to a waiting car, which will take them to the suiting trailer at Pad 16 for a dress rehearsal. Tony Broadway, manager of the crew quarters, holds the door open while "guardette" Ursula Neill sits at her desk. Following Schirra and Stafford is security chief Charles Buckley. |

I like this picture.Ed, do you know if it was taken in October 1965 (before the Agena failure) or December (before the rendezvous with Gemini 7)? |

This is a great photo as it shows the expressions on all their faces and feelings at that moment, which seem alive, even today. |

Enjoyed the photo, Ed, and it looks like a happy or joking Al Shepard at the time.But just for the record, Tony Broadway, holding the door open, wasn't the astronaut office manager at the Cape during the Gemini and Apollo program years. The crew quarters at KSC was headed by Harold (Hal) Collins (Deke Slayton's assistant) during those years and Broadway was the supervisor of the entire building facility that housed crew quarters, known as the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building (also known as the O&C Building). |

The photo does not seem to match the floor plan of the crew quarters.

Nice shot of the original Gemini 3 prime crew, Shepard and Stafford!Ursula looks like she's giving someone a heads-up, "Al's coming out, and he's smiling."  |
