February 8, 1974. None of the 3 television networks at that time carried the splashdown live. I saw a blurb on the evening news that did include shots of the crew on the carrier. I really liked the Pogue and Carr beards.

Looking at a picture like this makes me wonder; this vehicle just landed so couldn't there be toxic fumes still around the vehicle?

Great choice. Bill Pogue was the best autograph signer and person I have ever interacted with in the astronaut corp. He will be missed.
