The STS-135 crewmembers stop and pose for photographers before boarding the Astrovan that will take them to Launch Pad 39A for the launch of space shuttle Atlantis on July 8, 2011. STS-135 was the final flight of the Space Shuttle Program, a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. (Photo: NASA/Bill Ingalls)

I never saw it from this angle - a very nice shot.

In the full resolution shot, you can pick out yours truly just forward of the ladder, wearing a turquoise blue shirt.

There are also at least a half a dozen cS members in the crowd (including Jerry Ross, walking in front of the AstroVan).

Unique angle Ed, and neat to see Robert in the crowd.

Is that Astronaut Robert Curbeam or Leland Melvin in the blue flight suit in the bottom left corner walking away from the crowd?

Indeed, uncommon shot... are female astronauts Peggy Whitson (blue overall) and Janet Kavandi (civil clothes) behind the Astrovan?

Unique shot, Ed

I've had the great opportunity to attend a couple of crew walk-outs. I remember them allowing us (media) to line up in the "yellow lined area" ...a bit closer to the astrovan.

What a cool new angle!

I have seen this guy at the front of the bus in the flag and eagle shirt before on crew walk outs. Who is he?

And Robert, did you get any good pictures of the crew?

That is an excellent photo considering how many people are around you trying to get a picture too!

I noticed the security team in camos by the white car at the bottom; was the olive drab truck/armored car above the astrovan a regular feature of the caravans going out to the launch pads since 9/11?

Great shot!

If there's one of the STS-131 walkout, which I doubt, you'd be able to see me. That would be soo cool.

Of course it was about 2 a.m., so the photo would be pretty dark.

All times are CT (US)
