Astronaut Carl Meade is testing the Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) during the STS-64 mission in September 1994. SAFER allows astronauts greater mobility and a rescue device during extravehicular activity (EVA). |

I think falling (if you could do it - how do you stop your forward momentum) from 800,000 feet present different challenges than falling from 100,000 feet. Wouldn't the former generate much more thermal energy? |
