Astronaut Carl Meade is testing the Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) during the STS-64 mission in September 1994. SAFER allows astronauts greater mobility and a rescue device during extravehicular activity (EVA).

I think falling (if you could do it - how do you stop your forward momentum) from 800,000 feet present different challenges than falling from 100,000 feet. Wouldn't the former generate much more thermal energy?

My thought was something from Apollo 9: "Hey, you're upside down! Well, somebody is!"
