Space Shuttle Atlantis performs a successful landing at Edwards Air Force Base on June 22, 2007, at the conclusion of mission STS-117. It was the 21st mission to the ISS and the 118th shuttle mission overall. The landing marked the 51st shuttle landing at Edwards.

Neat view and angle. Was it taken from the tower or another plane?

It is a USAF-photo, so probably from the tower.

I miss going to the landing at Edwards. It was always a fun time.

Judging by the angle and the elevation of the photograph I'd say it was taken from the road which runs at the back of NASA Dryden (Rosamond Blvd).

The Dryden Center is too far from runway 22 to get a shot like that off of the hill plus all the hangers are in the way.

You would have to torment me with the STS-117 landing at Edwards...

I was waiting (in vain as it turned out!) for the return of Atlantis at the new SLF viewing area at KSC. As it turned out I didn't get another chance to see a shuttle landing at the SLF until Atlantis returned there for the very last time last July.

Your photo was an exciting new perspective of an Edwards landing - thanks!
