The erector at Pad 19 is lowered in preparation for the launch of the Gemini 5 spacecraft in August 1965. Gordo Cooper and Pete Conrad flew a successful '8 days or bust' mission. Ed Hengeveld |

I think this is the flight that they had to use the "Cherry Picker" to get out during one of the tests. The cherry picker was left over from the mercury days, Cooper insisted on having it on hand near the pad. The erector could not be raised and the crew had to come down via the cherry picker. |

Exactly right! This was on July 22, 1965, during a Wet Mock Simulated Launch. The exercise was combined with a Simultaneous Launch Demonstration with Agena target vehicle 5001 on Pad 14 as a test for future dual launches of Titan and Agena. |
