Who was the NASA PAO on duty when the Apollo 13 accident occurred?

Thanks for the answer Sy - I searched the internet but couldn't find the answer. Someone asked me on YouTube so wanted to find out the answer and not guess.

Rich Jurek (rjurek349) or David Meerman Scott's (freshspot) book features Doug Ward's commentary as does a nice article on Gizmodo from March 2014.

I have always been in awe of PAO Doug Ward's cool and calm voice during the Apollo missions but have never seen a photo of him.

Please can anyone provide any images of Mr. Ward?

The PAO at the time of the Apollo 13 accident was John McLeaish. Doug Ward had just handed over to him.

Attached is a pic I took of the PAO guys during our Apollo 11 splashdown party with the crew at the Hofbraugarten German restaurant.

Left to right: John McLeaish, Doug Ward, Paul Haney, Jack Riley and Milt Reim.

Just found this fascinating interview with Apollo PAO Doug Ward in 1989.

I am glad to report that Doug Ward is still alive. He just participated in an Apollo 16 50th anniversary forum in Houston.

He is the last living Public Affairs Officer from Apollo.

Ward did a superb job of moderating the ASF Apollo 16 panel (Duke, Haise, and Bostick) on April 2.

I talked to him afterwards. He talked about Chris Kraft and said the only time he saw Kraft really worried was when Apollo 8 fired their engine to leave lunar orbit and come home. When they were waiting for comm to be reestablished Kraft was clearly worried – more than Ward had ever seen him.
