NASA has chosen a new leader to head up its "Artemis Generation" of space explorers and possibly select the first woman and next man to walk on the moon.
Reid Wiseman has been named Chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. An astronaut himself since 2009, Wiseman will now be responsible for assigning crews to future U.S. missions, including commercial flights to the International Space Station and Artemis missions to orbit and maybe land on the moon.

Well done Tonto. I'm sure the Astronaut Office will be well served under his leadership.

I'm curious as to why he hasn't flown a second long-duration ISS mission.
Anyone know who Wiseman's deputy will be?

Recently listened to a podcast where he talked about the joy of supporting other astronauts and seeing others have their first spaceflight experience. Sounds like this is the perfect job for him!

Congratulation to Reid Wiseman! He will do an exceptional job as Astronaut Chief.
I was able to meet him in 2010 and he is a class act all the way.
