I was just reading this on Wikipedia about Torohiro Akiyama, who flew to Mir in 1990 as a Japanese journalist:
He was personally affected by the Fukushima disaster and had to abandon his farm.

And he is now living in Kyoto and teaches at the University for the Arts there.
