Does someone here have any information of astronaut hairstyles?

Most male astronauts seem to shave their hair during long space missions. Has there been any female astronauts doing that? Has there been some rules that female astronaut should keep their long hair for better pictures?

Long hair looks very unpractical and it has to feel horrible when proper washing is not possible. I cant imagine (If I would get to spacestation) keeping my long hair.

Not all female astronauts have long hair, and among those that do, some do choose to cut it.

For example, Astronaut cuts her hair in space for charity.

Here are photos of Peggy Whitson and Suni Williams getting haircuts in space.

I'm sure there is no cynical reason why female astronauts have long hair other than a personal desire.

It does make for some amusing in-flight 'bad hair day' photos, though.

There is a description in Mike Mullane's, "Riding Rockets", about an accident that occurred with Judy Resnik's hair on STS-41D. It got caught in an IMAX camera, causing the camera to jam.

Sure long hair can jam, but who is to say that it's more "unpractical" than anything else? Slightly tongue-in-cheek, but legs aren't really used in space, and there's a size limit to Soyuz capsules anyway...
