For those astrophilatelists, space photographers and others that know and have worked with Angelo J. Taiani, he turned 90 on Aug. 28 and celebrated his birthday on the 31st in Cocoa Beach, FL, with a special family dinner observance.

Ang started his aerospace career with NASA in the early 1960s as a technical support operations supervisor. He retired from the space agency in 1984, but continued to work as a NASA guest/news media operations team volunteer.

He was one of the primary escorts to hundreds of space photographers and reporters for more than two decades while at the Kennedy Space Center.

For us space philatelists, we also know him as a long-standing president of the Kennedy Space Center Philatelic Society and for operating his own space cover business, Space Coast Philately, since the mid/late-1980s.

Ang and I would often visit together, see each other at the press sites, talk "space covers," and worked together on all the shuttle missions and many other space projects.

Happy 90th Birthday, Ang, to a good friend, co-space cover buddy, and space enthusiast.

I'm glad to hear Ang is doing well.

One of the first items on my checklist when pulling into the KSC press site was to find him and buy some launch team pins and mission covers.

Thanks for the update Ken.

Indeed... Happy Birthday to Angelo Taiani!

Dug this photo out of the files showing Ang at a Cape party with Gen. Stafford and LIFE magazine photographer Ralph Morse.

Happy 90th Birthday Angelo. I remember that you submitted many articles to me for publication in the Astrophile when I was Editor. One of your articles contained photos and illustrations in full-color. This gave me the idea of adding color to the Astrophile. This was in 2004.
