dom Member Posts: 855 From: Registered: Aug 2001	posted 02-20-2013 11:58 AM Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield made the news yesterday when he sent the first "Tweet" in the Irish language from the ISS. The first Canadian to walk in space had another first last night when he became the first person to participate in a Twitter exchange as Gaeilge from outer space. Former Royal Canadian Air Force pilot Cmdr Chris Hadfield tweeted a night-time photograph of Dublin taken from the International Space Station (ISS) with a message written partly in Irish. The Ontario-born flight engineer posted his tweet (or tuít in Irish) with the message: "@Cmdr_Hadfield: Tá Éire fíorálainn! Land of green hills dark beer. With Dublin glowing in the Irish night."

The Canadian astronaut who delighted an Irish audience with his tweet from space as Gaeilge is to visit Dublin. Cmdr Chris Hadfield’s proud daughter Kristin has revealed that her dad will visit her at Trinity College soon after he returns to earth.
