While I was doing genealogy research on Find A Grave, I came across the grave of Brian Joseph James who reportedly was an astronaut candidate at the time of his death in 1992. Does anybody recognize this name? His grave and information is found here. |

It seems he was a selectee for his service, the Marine Corps, but nothing says his application had been retained by NASA. |

Thanks for finding that information so quick. I guess he must have been a nominee for 1992 Group 14 class but died in July 1992 before he was selected. Spacefacts website indicates that Group 14 went into training August 1992. I do not know when Group 14 was actually selected.

I believe the Group 14 selection announcement was made in April 1992. |

It was exactly on March 31, 1992; just see at NASA release no. 92-018. He was candidate for MS in 1992 only, but wasn't selected in any 4 groups of interviewees. They were brought to JSC for medical evaluation on Dec 8th & 15th, 1991 and on Jan 5th & 12th, 1992.------------------ Astronauts, Cosmonauts & their flights |
