Happy birthday indeed JC... he is still working hard he told me a couple of days ago supporting his wife Pat in her art work from their home in Vermont. You would think they have not retired, zooming around the country as busy as ever. 80 solar orbits to add to his 84 Earth orbits I told him, reminding him has to only celebrate Aug. 22 once on Earth. Had he been on ISS it would have been 16 times over the 'Earth day'. Happy birthday Jerry... and many more to come. |

On his birthday, Jerry Carr took part in New Hampshire Public Radio's "Inspired Lives" series about notable people who have taken inspiration from their time in New England. This week, we’re hearing from a New Englander who took his inspiration from the skies- astronaut Jerry Carr. A childhood fascination with airplanes led to a career as a military pilot, and then eventually, as the commander for Skylab 4, the third and final manned visit to the orbiting workshop. |

Belated happy 80th birthday to Jerry Carr. I really recommend his authorized biography by David Shayler "Around the World in 84 Days". |

I can't believe he's 80! Seems like just yesterday he was in Skylab. |
