I should of been asleep, and I was too tired to watch the episode, but apparently there was an episode of The Brady Bunch entitled, "Out of This World," where the gang meets Jim McDivitt. Anybody seen the episode and can say whether or not McDivitt had more than a token appearance on it?

How embarrassing is this?
The Brady Bunch
Episode #111 "Out of this World"
January 18, 1974

Former astronaut James McDivitt, the man who saw a UFO in space, guest stars.

Bobby and Peter camp out in the backyard looking for UFO's. After they meet General McDivitt, the boys are convinced that they have spotted one and go back the next night with cameras to prove it.

Is the scriptwriter Al Schwartz related to the Brady Bunch creator, (as well as Gilligan's Island), Sherwood Schwartz?

How about this? This past July, a company called StereoVision Entertainment Inc. announced one Douglas Schwartz (he was the executive producer and co-creator of Baywatch) was appointed as chairman of the company's board of directors.

Relevance to Rob's question? Schwartz co-created and executive produced eight television series. Sound familiar? Hang on, it gets better.

His father, Al Schwartz, was the executive producer for Jackie Gleason's series "The Honeymooners." His uncle, Sherwood Schwartz, was responsible for creating and producing television hits "The Brady Bunch" and "Gilligan's Island."

Next time, we play Trivial Pursuit at MY place! May the Schwartz be with you.

Um, this is a long-overdue reply, but I believe this is the episode.

Enjoy the McDivitt-y goodness!

Thanks for the link, but for reasons best explained by people smarter than me, Australians are not be privy to viewing this 30+ year old show.

Thank goodness someone is looking after my welfare. If it was the appropriate forum I'd go on about DVD region coding!!

For any Brady Bunch tragics out there, this episode is prfiled in the book by the actior who played Greg Brady (Barry Williams)called "Growing Up Brady".

Contrary to Bruce's post in 2004 (above), Williams lists this as Episode #110 (not #111), which I recall having seen long, long aho. A very stilted cameo by McDivitt.

At p82 of the book, Williams briefly mentions the guest appearance, in a chapter dealing with other famous camoes (Joe Nemeth, Henry Kissinger, Nelson Rockefeller, Davey Jones of the Monkees etc). Williams makes the all-too-familiar mistake in that chapter of referring to Apollo 9 having gone to the Moon.

All times are CT (US)
