On the 18th of February 1966 cosmonaut Grigori Nelyubov died after being hit by a train. One of the first group of cosmonauts he was considered for the first space flight along with Yuri Gagarin and Gherman Titov.
He left the cosmonaut group along with Ivan Anikeyev and Valentin Filatyev in April 1963.
He returned to his career as a military pilot until his death.
A documentary on his life titled He Could have Been The First (in Russian) was aired on Russian television in 2007.

Respects to a man who could have been one of the great cosmonauts alongside Gagarin and Leonov.
Unfortunately his ego lead to his dismissal - bringing two innocent friends with him - and he was never given the chance to show how good he might have been...
