I admit that I am embarrassed to ask about the pronunciation of Wally Schirra's last name. I've always pronounced it as Sh-ra ('sh' like you would say to be 'quite', 'ra' like the cheer) with the accent on the second syllable. But I was watching a documentary where they pronounced it where it would rhyme with 'mirror' with the accent on the first syllable.
I was sure I was saying his name right for 40+ years but I want to be sure out of my very high respect for him. What is the correct pronunciation?

You can hear Wally himself pronounce it at the very beginning of this ad.

I've always pronounced it the same way as Walter Cronkite in this YouTube video.
