Can anyone solve this minor mystery? The above photo of the 2004 astronaut selection was posted on collectSPACE some time ago. Did that include an explanation why all the ascans in the first row have the nametag 'Kevin Ford'?

Also, the bottom photo is the one that I had in my collection and that apparently is the original. It is identical, except that Eric Boe isn't wearing sunglasses. And he is sitting next to Kevin Ford.

So apparently Boe had his sunglasses digitally added in the top photo. But why was he the only one not wearing them in the original photo?

Why does Nicole Stott's right pants leg appear to be pulled up?

They all appear to have sunglasses digitally added. The shades are missing the arms to the glasses.

Behnken glasses are round shape and appears the real object.

Possible who ever was doing the digital skipped over Boe, then realized their error.

I believe most (if not all) of the glasses are real; they are roll-up sunglasses (they grip the face when unfurled by the material's desire to roll up on itself, as seen in this product image).

The sunglasses are real. A member of the 'Bugz' explained that the portrait studio is in the same building as the medical clinic, so one of the ascans went next door to the ophthalmology clinic and borrowed a bunch of the disposable sun glasses that are used after eye dilation.

All times are CT (US)
