Stanley R. Colson was the Quality Assurance Manager of the Saturn V and Chief of the Quality Control Laboratories for the Saturn V during the Apollo era. Tom Stafford and his wife visited him at the Indian River Center in West Melbourne, Florida where he was ill with terminal prostate cancer. They swapped stories and autographs as you can read at Florida Today. From his obituary: After graduating as an aeronautical engineer from the University of Colorado in Bolder, Stan began his career for Boeing Seattle, WA. He was associated with Boeing for 37 years. His challenging and rewarding career included being Quality Assurance Manager for Mariner 10-MVM, Quality Assurance Manager of Saturn V and Chief of the Quality Control Laboratories for Saturn V. Stan published numerous articles and made presentations in the United States, Germany, and Switzerland. He and his wife, Antoinette (Toni) moved to Brevard County in 1985 after spending five years in the United Kingdom where Stan was dimensional control manager for the Hutton Project, a drilling platform in the North Sea. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Name of Jesus School Endowment Fund. Condolences may be sent to Beach Funeral Home. |
