Did Alan Shepard have any children or is his wife still alive? I am trying to get info on him and I am not having a lot of luck.

His wife Louise tragically died of a heart attack only one month after Admiral Shepard passed away.

He and Louise were survived by daughters Julie, Laura and Alice, and six grandchildren.

Apparently, I have read that he was a descendent of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren.

It's worth noting that Shepard's daughter Alice is his wife Louise's niece, raised from an early age as their daughter. I don't know if she was formally adopted.

If you go to the Plimouth Plantation just south of Boston, you can ask him yourself. Richard Warren that is, not Al Shepard.

On edit: Richard and Elizabeth had six children and these produced 55 grandchildren. It's possible that everyone in the States can trace their ancestry back to the Foundling Fathers!!!

I understand that Alan Shepard's brother served in Vietnam. If that's in fact the case, would anybody around these parts know the brother's name and in what capacity he served?

All times are CT (US)
