I haven't been able to get access to Scott Carpenter's website in the past week. Is there a problem?

collectSPACE provides hosting for ScottCarpenter.com. As you may be aware, we recently suffered a server outage. Though we were able to move collectSPACE to a temporary server, we were unable to do the same for Carpenter's website and are now working to restore service as well as set-up precautions so that the same issue cannot reoccur. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience.

Hi, just tried to enlarge some of the gallery items (ed Hengeveld collection)... could be me, my computer or is there a problem? Thanks,

I couldn't get access also. I wanted to congratulate Scott on the 45th anniversary of his flight. -Lou

An update and humble request:

scottcarpenter.com is up on a new server and we are attacking the broken links, misspellings, mis-coding and so forth, particularly your Photos with Scott (that means you, Rog!)

Hope to have all the email links working soon. But the "Ask Scott" is presently working if you wish to send comments and corrections from the site, if/when you have a moment.

Because of a catastrophic crash on my Dell laptop earlier this spring, I lost all my email with addresses to the cSers who provided valuable links, particularly to historical video, now lost on the reconstituted site. Could I prevail on you to resend these invaluable clips to me.

Look for a good Vintage Guitar story on Carpenter's Gretsch, with a nice photo to go along with it. I think everyone will enjoy Willie Moseley's excellent account of a historic electric guitar.

Thanks. And thanks again to Rob for his incredible patience and help with the site.

Kris

Belay that request for the newsreels.

We have located the files.

We also have new content on Scott's Corner, a reprinted Willie Moseley article from Vintage Guitar magazine about Carpenter's anniversary Gretsch.

On Edit: Working on little server issues to support all the media we plan. Welcome your ideas!

WOW! You can tell you were a Navy kid! I haven't heard the term "belay" used since I got out of the Navy 34 years ago today!

Just went to the website and listened to the "Helium Filled Astronaut" linked from the home page - had not done so before. Hilarious! Not just the call itself, but the White House secretary before the call is put through. For those of you who have heard prank call shows like "Crank Yankers," this call sounds very similar - the befuddled operator trying to work out whether she should put through a call to the President when she can't understand a word of the Donald-Duck-pitched voice... comedy gold!

We have "Appearances" updated on scottcarpenter.com, with information on Vail and Minturn Farmers Markets, Spacefest, a Sputnik commemoration at Temple University and even, for European cSers, an underwater film festival in Antibes.

Look for date corrections on the Farmers Markets too.

Saturday, August 25 Minturn Market
Sunday, August 26 Vail Framers Market

Saturday, September 1 Minturn Market
Sunday, September 2 Vail Farmers Market

Here's the link: http://scottcarpenter.com/appearances.html
