Does anyone have a more or less complete list of the semifinalists for the NASA Group 20 astronauts. Spacefacts has listed only four additional names and others have none. |

The 2009 Astronaut Selection is the first one where details of interviewees are not freely available. Every selection from Group 8 to 19 have available details of all interviewees; and which interview group they attended on JSC News Releases since 1977. However there were no JSC News Releases for Group 20 interviewees for either round of interviews conducted. Sian Proctor who attended interview group 5b from 14 to 16 January 2009 has posted some details of fellow interviewees (including photographs of the interviewees in her group) on her blog. I have the names of 22 of the 110 interviewees, but am still looking for the remainder. The names so far are: - Serena Aunon
- Brian Bird
- Jeanette Epps
- Jack Fischer
- Christy Garvin
- Michael Hopkins
- Jose Miguel Hurtado
- Kjell Lindgren
- Christopher Looper
- Christopher Martin
- Fred McBagonluri
- Jason Petula
- Sian Proctor
- James Rice
- Kathleen Rubins
- Miles Smith
- Elizabeth Somerville
- Scott Tingle
- Mark Vande Hei
- Andrew Vanden Heuvel
- Karen Willcox
- Gregory Wiseman
There is the same problem with details of USAF personnel whose names were forwarded to NASA for consideration for Group 20; again the previous practice of naming potential candidates has not been followed; only a bland news release on the number of names submitted. Enquiries of the USAF for further details have not gotten any response. The US Navy, Marines and Coast Guard potential candidate details are however freely available. I would be interested if anyone can complete the above list. |

Yes, I would be interested too, but I believe, this list will never be complete. | |
