Hi there,

A bit more 'fun' speculation for us to consider.

In 'First Man' it reveals that Neil's application to become an astronaut missed the cut off date and was 'slipped in' to the pile of applications.

Now I work for a relatively small charity and our HR policy is that if a job application misses the deadline then it isn't considered.

So what happens if Neil had missed the boat?

Does the 'New 9' become the 'New 8'?

If the nine had remained nine who from those who missed the cut would have been included?

Was nine just how it turned out could it have been eight, ten or more?

Would Neil have re-applied for Group 3 and maybe still have walked on the moon even if not 'First Man'

How would Armstrongs' exclusion have affected crew selection through Gemini and Apollo?

Who would have been the first man on the moon? (We still need to assume that the Apollo 1 fire etc. still happened)

This is all nonsense of course but when you are at a loose end your mind sort of wanders

Cheers

Steve
