Pre-orders for signed copies of "Endurance" can be placed through Scott Kelly's website.

His website also notes that a "Fall 2017 book tour schedule [is] to come."

For what it is worth, I placed an order today for a signed copy of "Endurance" using the link at the top of this thread. While the offer appears to have finished, when I enquired the retailer confirmed I would receive a signed copy and at the advertised price.

Anybody else who uses the link might want to check too, just in case supplies are limited.

Got my copy signed by Capt. Kelly today at a Barnes & Noble just two blocks from work; while waiting in line I noticed that, minus the acknowledgements at the end, the book is exactly 365 pages long!

A nice touch is he asked each person in line to leave comments and sign on an open page inside a copy of his book nearby.

You would think they would have edited it down to the actual days he spent in space on this mission of 340.

Today received my signed copy of "Endurance."

The front cover jacket has a gold circular sticker stating "signed first edition." It is signed on a blank page after one opens it, then a page stating "Endurance," and then the cover page, where most signed books are preferred to be signed.

As pictured above, Kelly signed blank tipped-in pages for the pre-orders and for the events on his tour where pre-signed books are being distributed.

I've just received my pre-signed copy in the post. Does anyone else have a copy which is, shall we say 'rough around the edges'?!

On mine, along the outer edge, on the opposite side to the spine, half the pages don't seem to have been trimmed giving a kind of saw tooth effect. The text all lines up perfectly from one page to the next but it already looks like an old book. Perhaps this was a style choice but it just looks half-finished to me!

Yes, the "unfinished" look is prevalent among most published books these days.

I have a copy of Kelly's book like this; what matters most, at least to me, is the contents and his personalized signature inside.

It is called a deckle edge.
An artifact of bygone days, the "deckle edge" is part of the modern fetishisation of the past, much as Instagram glorifies the 1970s snapshot camera. An artifact that might have annoyed the makers of the day turns into a trait intended to evoke the whole experience and emotion associated with the original, but without any of the baggage.

The deckle edge was unavoidable until the 19th century, a byproduct of the papermaking process. Since it became unnecessary, the rough edge gradually turned into a status symbol.

I have booked tickets to an evening event in Bath on the 25th of November which is an evening with Scott Kelly promoting his brilliant book "Endurance." I was just wondering if anyone else was attending?

Enjoyed the Scott Kelly talk and book signings in London and Bath this week. Some great incites, plenty of humour, great to hear yet another perspective from the inside. I'm sure many career astronauts would not opt for a near year long mission. Radiation in the order of numerous chest X-rays per day... hey two weeks for me would be fine. Just have to raise the £30/40 million.

Would be great to get similar thoughts and experiences from the Russian crew members. They know long duration too.

Met some collectSPACE posters at the Bath event last night, Dave and Lindsey Salisbury and Apollo Alex and Simon Goddard at the London event. Doubtless there were many more there too (submit a message here).

Found some time to start reading "Endurance: A Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery" today. Also managed to pick up a copy of Scott's children's book too ("My Journey to the Stars").

Just Tim Peake left for this year in the U.K. before Christmas but a great end to an astronaut filled year.

It was good to see you Nick and I too greatly enjoyed Scott Kelly's talk in Bath, the hour simply flew by.

Anyway I hope to attend any of your future endeavours in the future also Nick.

I had "Endurance" delivered from America but do regret not being more patient as Scott has recently been over here on a book signing tour and feel sure that he would have signed on the title page rather than on a blank page of my copy.

His autograph was also much better on the special Time edition "A Year in Space," which he signed for me at his joint lecture with his brother in Pontefract last year.

I suppose that is what happens when they sign a huge amount of books in advance. None the less a welcome addition to my personal library.

Editor's note: Threads merged.

As noted above, Kelly signed blank tipped-in pages for the pre-orders and for the events on his tour where pre-signed books are being distributed, hence his signature being on a blank page.

Books-A-Million had signed copies of "Endurance"; it was signed on the first free page after the endpage. Presumably this was one of the pre-signed copies.

Meanwhile, "Journey to the Stars" was signed on the title page, in the lower right-hand corner. So if he could do one, he should have been able do the other. ::shrug::

"Endurance" had tipped-in pages; "My Journey to the Stars" did not. Kelly signed the books in the latter case.

Was at Costco yesterday and saw a stack of "Endurance" books. First one I picked up had Kelly's autograph on the inside page. Looked through all the rest in the stack and nada!
