Found out late last week on the Sightings page that Buzz is, indeed, doing a talk and a book signing for this book on May 9 at the National Geographic Society. The event apparently sold out shortly after I bought my ticket.Anyone else from here going to this? |

I'll be there at the National Geographic lecture. Buzz is also giving a presentation the next day at the National Press Club. |

If anyone knows or finds out if he's doing one in Chicago or the middle of the country and can post it on here I'd appreciate it. Wouldn't mind going to one and possibly bringing my daughters to it. |

It looks like the National Geographic Society added another date for Buzz on May 8... bought two tickets last night. |

The following guidelines have been released for Buzz Aldrin's upcoming "Mission to Mars" book signing tour: - Buzz will only autograph the new book "Mission to Mars" and his children's books "Reaching for the Moon" and "Look to the Stars".
- He will not sign any memorabilia, photos, space related items, other books authored or not authored by him.
- He will not personalize and will sign his name only.
- We allow photos while he is signing but we will not pose for pictures or allow anyone behind the table to take a photo.
- There is usually no limit to how many books people can buy although each venue has the discretion to set a limit per person for their event.
- Time permitting, Buzz will continue to sign until the last person in line having purchased a book that day is taken care of and only as long as there is still a steady line. Once all books are sold we'll consider the signing event over.

Does anyone know if any of the venues, especially Barnes & Noble, L.A. are allowing pre-orders of a signed book? None of my trips to the US this month coincide with Buzz's appearances. |

Bloomberg reporter James Clash will interview Buzz at a live Explorer's Club event in NYC on May 12th. There will be a book signing afterward. |

I went down to NYC yesterday evening for the first Mission To Mars book signing. A one hour talk/Q&A period, initiated by Leonard David, took place prior to the actual signing.Buzz seemed in good spirits and was very engaging, especially answering the questions posed by the children. I estimate the crowd numbered 500-600, perhaps more. I brought some family members with me including my 1-1/2 year old grandson who greeted him with a well-rehearsed "hi Buzz". Buzz looked up with a big smile on his face. That brief moment alone made the trip worthwhile. All people present had their books signed in a little over 90 minutes, which is quite amazing considering that many attendees had multiple copies (up to 10 allowed) to be signed. Leonard David hung in there and co-signed as well. It was a nice trip to the city for us, but as always, it's good to be back home in the boonies. |

I have just noticed on the ShopNasa store that the pre-order edition is advertised as "autographed Buzz". Does this literally mean no Aldrin included with this autograph or is it an omission on the website I wonder? |

I believe it is just the product title. If you look at their other product titles, they seem to limit them to 30 characters (with spaces), which would explain why "Mision" and "Autgraphed" are missing an "s" and "o" respectively. Aldrin will be at Johnson Space Center to sign the books on June 21. |

No venue details yet, but Buzz Aldrin has said he will be scheduling additional book signings over the summer in Connecticut, Chicago and Houston. |

Is that for sure that Buzz will be at JSC on June 21? We will be in my hometown visiting family that week, it would be cool for my family to be able to meet Buzz! |

The June 21 signing is at Johnson Space Center, open to NASA employees and badged contractors only. It may be that a public signing is also scheduled (as noted above) but no venues or dates have been announced as of yet. |

Apparently I live in the wilderness since astronauts never come to North Carolina when they release a book. I think it would be appropriate since our Morehead Planetarium was integral in navigational training for space missions in the 1960s. Just my opinion. |

Al Worden did come to Morehead Planetarium a year and a half ago to promote his book. I will take some credit for this, since I was the one who alerted the Morehead director that Al was doing that book tour. Maybe I should get in touch with him and see if he is interested in getting Buzz to come here. That is, if Buzz is still adding events. |

If you've never been to the Cosmosphere, I really recommend it, especially for an event with astronauts. My wife and I visited there while driving across the country in 2007 and I was thoroughly impressed. (My write-up - hopefully not out-of-date - starts halfway down on this cS thread.) Definitely worth driving for several hours. |

I agree. I spent an entire day there and went through it three times, each time spending more time with the special exhibits (e.g Gus' Mercury capsule). This is a must see for all space enthusiasts! |

The signed books from the store at JSC were due to be delivered late June. Has anyone received there's yet? Trying to work out when to get to Orlando to pick mine up from the hotel. Thanks Paul |

Buzz's website now says that he will sign only the new book. Recently, it said he'll sign the new book and his two kids' books. Does anyone know if he is now refusing to sign the two kids' books? |

The JSC shop apparently had about 1000 (yes, with three zeros) books to ship, which means that Buzz has been signing an insane amount of books overall. It may be that he is getting tuckered out and would like to limit the extent of the signing. |
