Sorry for such short notice, but Col. Borman is taking a side trip from a visit to Phoenix to come down here and do a signing.This will actually happen before the Lovell signing at the end of August, so our hard deadline is August 12. Please read the ordering instructions carefully, and fill out and sign the order form. Calls or emails may not be answered in time. This may be Col. Borman's last signing, or at least one of his last. 2010 was his prior signing here. |

What is everyone getting signed? I already purchased a Borman previously signed 16x20 "Earthrise" photo in which I am having Lovell sign in August and getting it framed. I am trying to decide on what to have Borman sign now. I'm leaning toward an 8x10 photo of one of the Gemini 7 "Golden Ribbons" or "Rendezvous". Or maybe The Apollo 8 on launch pad at dawn to go with the "Earthrise" to be framed separately and hang next to the framed Earthrise. Hmmm... Decisions... |

aaargghhh! If I send my earthrise pic in for Frank Borman from the UK, I won't have it here for Walt Cunningham and Rusty Schweickart to sign in September. OH NO decisions. |

Now only if Kim could pull off a miracle and talk Bill Anders into doing a one time signing! I bet he would be amazed at the amount of items (as long as the fee wasn't at his latest quoted price). |

I hope people aren't getting tired of me posting about these when a signing event is coming up, but in 2010 I made some large photo collages of various missions. You can print them at mpix.com or another service. The first two you'll see on this cS forum page are for Gemini 7. They do a pretty good job of showing the whole mission. (The 24x20 more clearly shows it chronologically, as if you're reading a page.) Since both Borman and Lovell will be signing in August, you could send it in for Borman to sign, then Lovell could sign it a couple of weeks later. (He does have a Gemini 7 completion fee... of $5!) |

Yes, if you've already sent stuff for Lovell, you can send a Borman order form with a description of the items and annotation that items are already at Astronaut Central for the Lovell signing. |

Unfortunately I'm in the UK. I'm flying over for the ASF in November, Walt is scheduled for that but Rusty isn't as yet. |

I've actually been hoping for a couple of years for the chance to ask cS members for their opinions about what to ask Frank Borman to write on a couple of items.First, the easier one: I have an Earth Orbit Chart for Apollo 8, showing the path the spacecraft would be taking... until a point north of Hawaii, where the track just ends with the trans-lunar injection. I couldn't find a large image of an Apollo 8 one online, but it looks just like this one from Apollo 11. I'm thinking of having Borman sign it at that point: "December 21, 1968: Humans leave Earth orbit for the first time. Frank Borman, Apollo 8 CDR." I'm happy with that wording, showing the historical nature of that moment, but any other suggestions? Then, a little trickier: I was the top bidder (at the Lunar Legacies auction held at Spacefest last year) on the copy of the Apollo 8 flight plan used by Frank Borman in training. It's got notes in his handwriting inside. I'm pretty sure I'm going to come up with a ten-word inscription for him to write on the cover, but I'm also thinking of instead typing up a longer description ("The accompanying copy of the Apollo 8 flight plan was used by me...) for him to sign. Could anyone recommend one plan over the other? |

Sending out an urgent plea for help. Does anyone out there have a high-resolution, high-quality version of the Apollo 8 Earthrise photo AS8-14-2383?I've come across multitudes of different copies of this photo, but they all generally lack good color correction and are usually 2400x2400 pixels or less. I'm looking for something high resolution of 4Kx4K or higher and properly color corrected. Does anyone have such a scan of this photo that they would share? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks all! |

That is a good inscription. I should have been specific about why I can't decide between an inscription on the actual item, or a description written up by me on a separate paper and signed by Borman.I'm trying to think long-term and rather grandiosely - this is a unique and pretty special document, so what could I do to best show what it is for my collection for the next few decades, and even in a museum after that? The inscription on the actual item would be good because it could never be separated from said item. It also lends authenticity better - someone could conceivably learn how to forge Borman's signature if it's just going on a printed letter that could be reprinted for another try after a bad attempt, but writing ten words and signing the actual document would be far riskier. A letter written by me would provide more information about the flight plan and the mission, and I could ask Borman to write ten words about his handwritten notes within. But it wouldn't have the advantages I've described about the "direct" inscription. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but this Apollo 8 flight plan is one of my favorite space items. (I was willing to sell a pretty amazing Apollo 11 flight plan to pay for it.) This is my one shot to have the commander of the mission write about it, so I want to make sure I do it as well as possible. |

Were this a flown flight plan, I would suggest not having it signed. As a training tool, I would say the decision is less clear, but if you do desire to have it signed directly, I would suggest the inscription be made in pencil. |

You bring up a point I forgot to mention: treating the document well, and not altering it in a ghastly, distracting way. I sure wasn't going to request a thick Sharpie, but you're right - if I have it inscribed, I'll request a pencil. |

I am thinking of getting a Gemini 7/6 rendezvous photo signed by Borman and Lovell. Novaspace is offering 3 of the classic color images of the two Gemini spacecraft.Which do you like better: "Golden Ribbons," "Jamming Speed," or "GT-7 Rendezvous"? See here for the images. |

I have "Ramming Speed" signed by Schirra and Borman, but I think that "GT-7 Rendezvous" is a better picture. |

Personally, I prefer complete crews, if possible, over one from each mission. I'm thinking of sending in an 11x14 photo on Kodak paper of the "Full Moon from Gemini 7" for both signatures. I have an 8x10 of the nose to nose spacecraft signed by the Gemini 6 crew, but lack the funds to get everything signed right now. Still, a 4 crew member completion of 7/6 would be sweet! |

Maybe it's just me, but if I prefer to get the astronauts to sign photos taken by them, of them, or at the very least during their mission. I've never seen value in a lunar orbital photo signed by someone who's never been out of earth orbit. |

This is very true, especially when it comes to someone like Gen. McDivitt who shifted over to NASA management after Apollo 9 and served as manager of Lunar Landing Operations and then the Apollo Spacecraft Program. Two important positions which he occupied until Apollo 16 in 1972 when he left NASA. |

I found a "GT-7 Rendezvous" photo in my collection signed by Schirra and Stafford. Instead of having a separate GT-7 crew signed photo, I decided to have Borman and Lovell autograph the one already signed by the GT-6 crew to have all four astronauts from this historic mission on one photo. I trust that Novaspace will work out the logistics, but they have always done a great job in the past. |

If you are just purchasing a photo to be signed, and are not sending any of your own items, then you can fax your order form to the fax number shown on the order form and instructions, or you may scan the form and attach it to an email sent to the email address shown in the instructions. |

Borman's fine. He was in Phoenix for his annual physical. He signed on Aug 20, and we started shipping the next day, but with Lovell also here on Aug 29-30, we are just now starting to get more items out. Photo COAs may take several weeks to complete. Both men had a very large amount to sign, and did so very quickly over long hours. |
