I'm a bit surprised that there have been no responses to this thread thus far. I guess Spacefest is garnering all the attention at the moment (and rightly so!).

For what it's worth, I bought my ticket last week, and Nicole at the ASF told me there were fewer than 30 Platinum Plus tickets remaining at that point. Among other things, the 70 Platinum Plus folks will have a personalized tour of the Cape facilities (including Hangar S) and breakfast with the astronauts on Sunday morning.

Should be a great time.

I usually get my ticket early, but have to hold off this year because work cannot yet confirm the two days off I need. I have hopes of going but unlike previous years just cannot commit early this year.

I got my ticket last week also, and am looking forward to it. I am particularly looking forward to the tour since it had to be canceled last year due to the Discovery launch. I'm hoping to meet some more folks from this forum as well.

Also have my ticket. The cape tour promises to be a great event. Hopefully there won't be a shuttle on the pad this year to keep us away.

Don't forget that unmanned launches from the Cape will also delay or cancel a tour as well.

Not having a shuttle launch as an issue is bittersweet. There are a couple of launches at the Cape in the Sept - Oct time frame, which if they slip could conflict.

I'll be there again this year and am excited to visit Hangar S with Scott and Dick. I imagine ASF will figure out something to keep us entertained if there is a conflict with a rocket launch.

I will not be able to go to this year's ASF show, but I'm already planning on making it happen next year. My question is, can anyone tell me what the value of a ticket "above fair market value" is? Are we free to estimate what this amount is, or is there an official answer? I'm just wondering how much of this is OK to declare as a charitable contribution on a tax form.

Boring question, I know, but if anyone knows the answer, please post it.

I went to my first Spacefest two weeks ago and I still haven't really come down from that high. Amazing event. It's what's got me already thinking about going to the ASF event in 2012.

Last year the ASF provided me with a letter stating what the amount was minus fair market value of goods and services when I picked up my packet. That's the amount you can use as a deduction. If I remember correctly, the amount was about 20% less than the value of the ticket or so.

I hope to meet some folks too. Am coming over from Scotland just for the AAMS, I got the big ticket and really looking forward to EVERYTHING. Has anyone here been to an AAMS at KSCVC before and is it worth the wait and money?

As usual living in Springfield, IL I am nowhere near there and will be unable to go to this show. Anyone getting autographs for other people for a fee for this show? Or any chance their doing mail order? Just wondering if there are any options.

Jason - Sorry you can't attend, but I would be happy to help you out as long as your want list isn't TOO long.

And I won't charge you a fee, just pay for the autographs and whatever it costs to ship everything back to you. I live in Atlanta, so I plan to drive down for the weekend -- should be no problem carrying extra stuff with me.

Send me an e-mail and I'll hook you up.

Thanks for the offer! Let me see what my money situation is in a few months. With the high prices for autographs anymore it would be 2 at the most but I appreciate the offer and will get back to you when it gets closer and I know what I can do. Thanks

We won't be able to go this year, but can anyone tell me whether the autograph fees at this show are comparable to what the astronauts were charging at Spacefest III last month? Thanks in advance.

The fees for last year's ASF show were similar to Spacefest, except a few of them had gone up a bit since then. I didn't go, but I looked at the list. But Tom Stafford actually dropped his fee by about $50 from last year.

I spoke to a couple of astronauts that are on the list to attend the ASF show and they told me at Spacefest that they were not attending. So I would look for some of the astronauts to start dropping from the line-up.

Interesting to note that the Spacefest IV thread, scheduled late next Spring, is getting more traffic than the ASF show thread. I guess the ASF show is still too far in the future ...

Funny thing is, though, it's less than six months away! I hope any cancellations by honored guests won't be too soul-crushing.

Is there anyone out there attending the 2011 Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show at KSC in November ALONE? If so I would like to hook up with them to perhaps help each other out taking photos of each other with the Apollo guys... any takers?

Not sure if this is your first event, but I have never had an issue with being able to find someone to snap a photo for me... probably easier logistically than trying to coordinate all of your individual activities together with someone.

Just a thought...

It's practically an expected custom to have the guy in front of you in line turn and hand you his camera and then ask you to take a photo of him and an astronaut. No worries.

Most people in line will gladly take your photo with the astronaut. It gets them involved with the astronaut sooner than waiting on a show worker to take the photo (Often times the worker must come around the table) Everyone is excited to spend a brief moment with these astronauts who have shaped history. Helping a fellow enthusiast can be the start of your own astronaut interaction.

Thanks guys for the advice on the photo taking... was not sure how things worked out with that as this is my first AAMS and am coming over from Scotland specially, so would like everything run good. As for the dinner reception, what is the usual dress code?

Dress for the Saturday dinner is usually jacket and tie, or at least jacket and collared shirt. At the ASF in 2009, most of the astronauts except Dick Gordon were wearing ties; all were wearing sports coats or suits.

At the recent Spacefest III, Bean was $145 (he had raised it since the last ASF I attended), and Cernan and Lovell were both $175.

Bean was actually $150 at Spacefest III, even though the pre-show advertised price was $145.

T-minus 3 months... and it's going to fly in quicker than a re-entry. Can I get some feedback on what you all think of these "completion fees"? Suppose it will be a case of we either pay or we don't. Would there not be cases were one would be expect to pay twice for a completion? For example would Lovell and Haise BOTH charge?

Unless your item is already signed by Jack Swigert, Lovell and Haise would be at regular price, assuming an Apollo 13 item.

I see the ASF website countdown clock is under 100 days.

Having missed Spacefest, this will be the big one for me this year, and seeing it three months away has me excited and wondering how the heck I'm going to raise money for more autographs.

Mike, do you have any internal organs you could do without? (What a great story it would be to say, "I sold my left kidney for a Gemini XII completion and an inscribed Aldrin WSS"!)
