Looks like there WILL be a Spacefest IV. I've talked the crew into it (along with many of you here, at the show, and on Facebook.) Details later, but it will be in 2013, probably springtime, in Tucson. Tickets will go on sale about September next year. |

Wonderful! Spacefest 3 will be a tough act to follow. The venue and guest line-up were A+++. I vote for Starr Pass as the venue once again. |

Spacefest IV-Springfield, IL sounds even better! Some private signings with the guys I cant get to-like Stafford, Scott, Cernan, etc. would be great too. |

I attend several meetings held in hotels annually and can say without any hesitancy that the venue at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson will be difficult if not impossible to beat. The setting, rooms, food, and service were 2nd to none. The property is spread out enough where you don't feel like you are crammed in, but quaint enough to bump into a moonwalker in the Starbucks or patio bar. I vote for a return to Tucson. |

Looks like SPACEFEST IV is being considered for the end of May, beginning of June 2012. Full moon too. We're looking at May 30-June 3, 2012 for Spacefest IV, essentially the same week as this year. Same place too. Memorial Day is the 28th. |

Not quite a full moon, Rizz, but waxing gibbous. We'll be able to see the terrain around all Apollo landing sites before it sets around 10:30.The star party was surprisingly popular. It was just outside, but real dark. The weather was perfect. |

In the coming weeks, we'll list improvements and changes for Spacefest IV. The first one is: lowered room rates.Our discounted room rate is now $109/night (down from $119/night.) That's equivalent to UACC Burbank Hilton in 2004, and unbeatable for this level of luxury. |

Speaking from experience, the rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious, and in my opinion there's no such thing as a bad room view-wise. Even though the room we had was not looking out over the front of the resort, the desert scenery we had through our rear-facing windows was simply breathtaking. One huge advantage is having a Starbucks within the resort for that much-needed wake-up coffee in the morning, or a cool frappuchino of an evening. For the early risers, the hotel offers a complimentary guided trek into the surrounding hills, during which you are told about the local flora and fauna. A great, fascinating place, and highly recommended. And knocking another ten bucks off the room rate - sensational! |

Indeed. I had a room overlooking the pool areas and the road up the hill. Perfect. I just hope they tell the guy with the flute for early AM Yoga to point the speakers away. Seriously this resort is in the dictionary next to "Lap of Luxury". |

My only complaint was that my wife kept getting spa treatments all week! (I'll secretly admit that I had one myself, and it was great!) I think two one-hour massages are the equivalent of one Buzz autograph. |

Try to get the Meteorite Men to come. We almost had one at the last Spacefest. Also, what about a Suit Tech panel - Ron Woods and maybe Joe Schmitt (he is still doing well for being in his mid-90's!) |

I know that cost is probably the impediment, but what are the chances of getting Valery Bykovsky and Valentina Tereshkova (Vostok 5 and 6) along? The two of them were a big hit at Autographica 2004, while Valentina was one of several cosmonauts at the Sims-Hankow show in San Antonio in 2006. |

Now that would be cool! I'd like to add in Leonov. However, I would imagine that paying for their airfare would be the major hurdle. I know from my own efforts that flying from the US to Russia or vice versa is not cheap, even in economy class. and frankly, if I'm flying halfway around the world, I wouldn't want to fly economy! I don't envy Kim and crew for having to put together a show like this. |

Good idea, Brad. Geoff has already been contacted and will make it if he doesn't have to film again. Ron Woods has already committed. Tried to get Joe Schmitt for 1 and 3, but will try again. Ron may be the key. |

I'd like to recommend Scott Kardel, who is leaving his position as the Public Affairs Coordinator for Palomar Observatory here in San Diego county, to move to Tucson and become the Director of Public Affairs for the International Dark-Sky Association. In the years he has worked at Palomar he has transformed the public image of the institution - you may also know him from numerous TV appearances. He's a great, dynamic speaker who makes astronomy understandable and accessible to the general public, and I think would be a great addition to your speaker lineup. |

If you could get Sy back, how about adding more MOCR guys? I heard Dave Reed speak two summers ago and he was funny and informative. Add in someone like Gerry Griffin and maybe even an astronaut who had CAPCOM duties and that could be a fun panel. |

How about a "Mutual Concerns of Space Collectors" panel with perhaps a couple of auction house representatives, a couple of museum curators, a NASA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) representative (or Department of Justice representative) and a couple of noted space dealers. I think that such a panel could serve to answer a lot of collectors questions and the transcript could be published on collectSPACE afterwards... |
