Novaspace Galleries' Astronaut Central has announced that their next custom signing with astronaut John Young will be held in January 2010. John is a six-time astronaut and has flown every manned spacecraft type NASA has launched. He remained at NASA until 2005, 42 years, the longest of any astronaut. His flying skills are legendary. He signs exclusively for Astronaut Central, once every year and a half or so.It's easy! And you'll save money. Simply decide what and how you want your item signed, fill in the order blank and send it to us by the December 30 deadline and we'll promptly return your goods with a fresh, authentic signature and an unchallenged Certificate of Authenticity. For the rules, fees, order form and additional information, see Astronaut Central. |

John is a six-time astronaut and has flown every manned spacecraft type NASA has launched. It was pointed out to me that Young DIDN'T fly Mercury.Anyway, deadline for receipt of signing materials here at Astronaut Central is Wednesday, Dec. 30. |

John Young is coming a few days later than originally planned, so we've amended the deadline from Dec. 30 to Jan 2. |

John and Susy Young came to Astronaut Central last week. Stuff is going out at a record pace. Look for your items inside a few weeks. John looked and acted on top of the world, by the way. |

I'm already looking forward to your next signing with Capt. Young. I was unable to send in my STS-1 launch photo (signed in the recent Bob Crippen ASF signing), as I couldn't get the money together in time. Steve |

I received my John Young autographed photo last week. Although it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, it was well worth the cost. I was very satisfied. Thanks to Kim, Sally and the staff.Mike |

The photo CDs are all done, even. Those started going out today. It's Rob Gallagher who does most of the work. He runs the photo booth at Spacefest. I just schedule, and sit in my wheelchair and bark out unintelligible orders. Kim

Got my Apollo X DVD cover (now completed!) this morning. Thanks much Kim. I really appreciated the completion fee being waived this time around because otherwise I might never have gotten this signed. |

I was shocked to see John in a T-shirt and not a turtleneck! I think that's the first photo I have seen of him in the last 10 years without a turtleneck. |

He feels very comfortable around us by now. He just wore a t-shirt and pajama bottoms. He looks everyone dead in the eye, and chuckles incessantly.

Ah, the joys of being a "senior citizen." Being able to go out in public, wearing pajamas, not at all concerned of what others might think. |

Received my signed pan today and for the first time dealing with Novaspace I was a little disappointed. Unfortunately I had to discover that Young got the inscription wrong. He wrote "Mysterious Descares" instead of Mysterious Descartes. Is just one character that is missing...but I can only "see" the missing character when I am looking at the pan. Also a few dots of ink in my personalization. Too bad. |

His last name wasn't changed from "Lebowski," was it? |

I was just kidding when I said "pajama bottoms," folks. I doubt that he would be allowed on the plane in PJs. He wore a suit, as it was unusually chilly in Houston, but gradually stripped down here. |

Astronaut Central is very sorry about the spelling error and extraneous dots for the first time in your many orders with us. The spelling John read from was correct, but he unfortunately wrote it wrong. Doubly unfortunate was that your item was an inkjet, not a photographic print, which meant that we could not clean off the error without damaging the image. With photographic prints, we could probably have cleaned it, and had John write it again correctly. This is one of the reasons we request no inkjets for our events. Dots in the wrong places are where John placed the pen tip against the item, not from dripping or spraying. There is nothing we can do to prevent the astronauts from touching the pen to an item between pen strokes, and again, we could not clean them off without damage. If you want to send us an unsigned photographic print, we can send it to John to have him try again, and exchange it for your inkjet. Please contact us directly via email if you want to discuss this. |

Let me reiterate: NO INKJETS at our signings! You can take them in person to a show and take your chances. Rob sticks a post-it to every item with instructions... Works fine on photos but it WON'T COME OFF an inkjet. Pens drag, inks (especialy silver) flake off.The astronauts ALL make mistakes, and we usually clean them off, as we posses all manner of solvents and techniques, but inkjets are WATER (and everything else) soluble, so we don't have the option of a do-over. And Stephan (Contra), please contact us FIRST in the future, instead of complaining on this forum. We deserve that much. Kim |

Well, I will give a huge thanks to Kim, Rob and the other folks at Novaspace, who have done a stellar job coordinating these signings and in being willing to hold on to an item as the signings went from Bean to Cernan to Young last year with a fair gap in between events. My Bonestell print is moving from awesome to spectacular. |

Maybe my choice of words weren't quit right Kim. I was not complaining towards Novaspace. Novaspace, like always, did a great job. I totally understand that this kind of things can happen. Especially because I accidentally send in an inkjet print - my fault. I was just trying to say that for the first time after so many great autographs I had some bad luck and the autograph did not turn out to be as PERFECT as all the others before. Hope this will clear things up. I DO NOT COMPLAIN about Novaspace. If I thought it was bad service or anything like it I would have told you so privately. I hope you will get Schmitt for another signing and I WILL NOT hesitate to send in my order. Kim, I will email you about the Young autograph tomorrow. I am busy today. |
