The date change has upset my plans a bit, it'll cost me to rearrange my flights. I know a friend who is unable to change his dates so will now be near the Cape but will be there one week earlier.

Coming right after the election, those are definitely not the most convenient dates ever conceived.

It's a holiday weekend so it seems like a logical choice.

I, too, was shocked to see the ASF change the dates of the Space Rendezvous Show. Hopefully, they will have a great line up of new astronauts attending this year?

Astronaut Scholarship Foundation posted:
Tickets are now on sale for Space Rendezvous 2016 featuring the Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show! During this Veteran’s Day weekend, guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy the grand opening of the new Heroes and Legends exhibit featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.
For all those on a budget, like myself. via Facebook: Astronaut Scholarship Foundation the only a la carte option would be the Saturday autograph show. It will be $20 at the door once you enter Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. There are upgrade options for those who purchase the gala ticket such as adding on a photo opportunity.

Lots more to come I hope. I'd love some ISS astronauts together with more shuttle flyers.

I see that they have added Rick Hauck to the list! I missed his last appearance!

And for those who may be wondering, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex lists Mike Foreman as the astronaut in residence during the Space Rendezvous weekend.

I will be selling my extensive collection of Space Race paraphernalia for the eighth year in a row at this venue. I've a great variety of authentic and vintage books, literature, documents, NASA lithographs, bronze statues, liquor decanters, jewelry, toys, games, Earth and moon globes, commemorative GI Joe's, models, etc.

Look for my display...

Gemini 12 crewmates Buzz Aldrin and Jim Lovell to mark mission's 50th at gala

Buzz Aldrin and Jim Lovell will mark the 50th anniversary of their 1966 Gemini 12 mission at a gala hosted by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

The celebration, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, as a part of the Foundation's annual Space Rendezvous weekend in Cape Canaveral, Florida, will bring together the two former crew mates, along with more than two dozen of their fellow astronauts for the special evening.

So I've been wondering about the Foundation autograph shows.

Is it all entirely for charity or do the signers get a guarantee with the Foundation hoping to make money by using them to get people in the door (e.g. a standard, generic autograph show)?

I would imagine the ASF gets the admission money and the astronauts get the autograph money. I know the astronauts sign photos for the ASF to sell on their website. I also know from their newsletter that several astronauts make fairly substantial donations to the ASF.

I think it really depends on the astronaut. Some donate a portion of the signing fees. Some donate all.

I know there are a pair of shuttle astronauts who are married (I won't mention their names but its easy to figure out) who have always donated all their signing proceeds to the ASF. I believe another astronaut (I wont name but easy to figure out) who is currently the director of NASA also donated the proceeds when he was able to do the show.

Thank you, Robert. I appreciate your reply. I'm not familiar with previous ASF autograph shows. Does anyone have a rough estimate as to previous autograph fees?

In particular, I have a photo of Curt Brown with one of my daughters and me that I would like to get autographed. In addition, I have an Apollo 8 FDC signed by Frank Borman that I would love to have signed by Jim Lovell (and if anyone knows how to get it signed by Mr. Anders without going into debt, I'm all ears).

Anyway, I understand that past fees aren't necessarily indicative of the coming fee schedule, but if I can get an idea of previous years, it would give me something to at least work with.

I don't have a final price sheet from last year's show, but as a rough guide, Lovell this year was $250 base through Novaspace.

And while some shuttle astronauts' fees were $20, the average seems to be $50. Again, as a rough guide.

I actually found the answer as it relates to this particular show.

ASF gets a mandatory 15% of all sales — astronauts are free to do what they wish with the other 85%. Beyond that, there are four generic agreements. Some astronauts get meals, airfare, ground transportation, and hotels, some get just the 85%, and others get something in between. It doesn't look like any of them get a guarantee or stipend though, unless they give some special attention outside of those four agreement options.

I'd be curious to know who decides which astronaut gets which of the four agreements and how they make that determination, but that's really between the ASF and the astronaut.

Autograph fees have begun to be posted.
Please note that signing guests are added as they RSVP. TBA signing fees will be posted as soon as they are announced. Check back periodically for updates – we will post both as they become available to us!

I'll be out of the country and unable to attend this one. If anyone is interested (and able), I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee to get an item signed by Stafford. Please email if you might be interested. Thanks in advance. — Chris

I saw that admission to the show is included in your KSC ticket purchase instead of the previous $20 autograph show fee. Is this correct? Seems like it would bring more people into the show, but also increase the congestion.

For those who may be planning to take advantage of the other offerings at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex while in town for Space Rendezvous, be aware that all special interest tours, including the KSC Launch Director Tour, KSC Explore Tour and Cape Canaveral Early Space Tour, are presently on hold due to the recovery from Hurricane Matthew until at least Nov. 14.

Direct bus service to and from the Visitor Complex to the Apollo/Saturn V Center is up and running, though.

Most years, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will bring in a few big name astronauts to do a free signing during the astronaut autograph event (usually two astronauts in the morning and two in the afternoon).

Has anyone heard if this will be the case this year as I have not seen anything on the complex's website?
