As j-space has pointed-out in another thread it seems that Kim has managed to line-up Frank Borman for a signing at Novaspace http://www.novaspace.com/AUTO/SIGNINGS/Signings.html No details as yet, but would anyone care to make a guess on the pricing? His signed pictures seem to fetch around $40-50 on the open market, so we can only hope they use this as a guideline when coming up with the fees. More importantly, I hope the Apollo 8 completion fee is not as sky-high as Lovell's (basic fee $150 ... Apollo 8 completion $500!!). |

I don't have a very large collection of signed prints but my favorite on is a photo taked by the crew of Gemini 6. It is the famous photo of Gemini 7 in orbit above a cloud covered Earth. The Gemini 7 spacecraft is in the upper right corner while the Earth extends from the upper left to the lower right. My copy of this photo is printed in hard stock paper and it is a color photo. The caption under the print states "Gemini 6 Photograph of Gemini 7 World's First Space Rendezvous 15 December 1965 GEMINI SPACECRAFT Designed and Built by MCDONNELL, St Louis for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration" It is a fantastic print. I had Jim Lovell sign it in at his 2003 Nova Space signing. Then I had it framed along with a Gemini Program patch, a Gemini 6 patch, a Gemini 7 patch, an American Flag patch, remember the flag waving in Mission Control, and a Gemini 7/6 mission medallion. I have always wanted to add Frank Borman's signature to this print. Thank you Kim Poor and Nova Space for this. Now for the next part. So far it does not look like Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford are listed as being at the New York show this summer. Does anyone know if Wally and Tom are going to attend? I could have had Wally and Tom sign this print last year but I decided to wait to see if I could get Frank to sign it first. Mike Myer Humboldt KS |

I sure hope it's true--I have a copy of "Countdown" that I'd LOVE to get signed. Also hope the price is within my budget....------------------ Don |

Hi thereWow - that one slipped under my radar! Great News - having only been in the hobby for about 3 years, this is a great opportunity to add more to my collection. I guess that Novaspace are wanting to clear the decks a bit from the Young and Collins signings before being inundated with another mountain of mail. It would be nice to have an indication of the pricing at this stage though. I do not know about the rest of you, but it means a lot more to me to have something signed at my request, rather than just buying something secondhand. So the base fee is $150 after all. This is three times the going rate for a Borman-signed photo but I suppose he probably wouldn't agree to sign for less than his old crewmate Lovell. Update: Kim tells me that in fact Borman is primarily raising funds for his church. Personally I like the idea that the extra money is going to a cause dear to the astronaut's heart. Wally not attending our show in August?? Take another look. He was one of the first guests announced. As far as Stafford is concerned....you'll just have to wait and see ------------------ Steve Hankow http://www.farthestreaches.com |

The main point that I was tring to make is that I would not want just Wally OR Tom to sign it. I would want both to sign it but only after Frank Borman has. With the Frank Borman signing taking place so close to the show I doubt I will be able to get it signed by Frank, Wally, and Tom this year. Maybe I can at next years show?? It would be great if it were in the midwest. How does Houston sound? Mike |

If anyone's interested, I have a Frank Borman uninscribed NASA glossy of the Moon: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=7275970&uid=3534404 How about half his NovaSpace fee, $75 plus postage? Brian |

Next year's show? Would suggest not taking for granted that another show is going to always be around the corner OR that any particular guest will participate, despite past attendance. Would suggest to anyone (and do), that they take advantage of these opportunities when they arrise if at all possible, and not assume that they'll be a "next years show". If you wait, you may be disappointed to learn that the perfect opportunity was the one you missed. Autographs through the mail can always be purchased (trust me, I know), but the chance for "face" time with these men is priceless. Enough said... ------------------ Steve Hankow http://www.farthestreaches.com [This message has been edited by farthestreaches (edited May 14, 2005).] |
