Just a reminder of the book release tour, as cS'ers J Brown / Atlanta & DavidH / Huntsville originally brought up, by bestselling author Homer Hickam Jr ( The Rocket Boys/October Sky, Back To The Moon, and other major bestsellers ). Homer's latest work, in the bestselling Josh Thurlow series, is entitled The Ambassador's Son, a story that brings in some big names ( Kennedy, Roosevelt, Nixon, Michener ) and that appears to be going to the big screen. For details on the schedule of Homer's appearances, for signings and to meet Homer, see www.homerhickam.com

I was fortunate to meet him at a signing in Utah some time ago, and have him sign my copy of "Torpedo Junction". He is a fascinating author to meet in person, and his writing style is easy to read. I hope many of you get a chance to meet him!Best regards, Mark in Utah |

I saw Homer Hickam in Raliegh on Friday. He was a great speaker really promoting his new series. He signed his new book and any 3 other books of his. Had a great time.Charles |

I missed the two nice posts here earlier, thank you gentleman.Homer's final, remaining schedule to this point includes CLEVELAND on Wed., 4/13; ALABAMA next week and again in May. Missed his appearances so far, planning on catching him in AL! But was kind of wondering if he spoke about the H-rex find and about his NASA Moon-Mars advisory work. Also, if they have good stock of Homer's Back to the Moon available at the appearances, and the October Sky dvd. |

Homer spoke about his new series and especially the Ambassador's Son. He had a question and answer time where he would answer any questions. They only had paperback versions of Back to the Moon and didn't see any dvd's.Charles |

Hey, thanks much, Charles! TONIGHT IN CLEVELAND, HOMER is scheduled for Borders Books, Mayfield Road, 7pm (Wed 4/13). A man of our armed forces, stationed at Fort Bragg, would have an extra tie with Mr Hickam's current series! Probably happy about the big-screen news -- to see how the "band of North Carolina misfits" turns out on the big screen. Wonder how many armed forces members there are at cS? A notable Col. at Pearl Harbor, with very impressive possesions. Of course the armed forces were hand in hand helping the space program ( though a little bit of friction at the start of nasa! ).
