I just learned of this auction, which begins in less than an hour from the time of this post at 1:00 p.m. (on Saturday, April 22, 2023). Burley Auction Galleries presents the estate of Harold I. Johnson: Hal Johnson was an award winning NASA engineer for the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. Credited with many inventions used during the space program including the handheld maneuvering unit used during early space walks and the simulators used by the astronauts for the Apollo moon landings. His estate is full of rare early space exploration relics, designs and notes, rare original NASA red number photographs, and early astronaut signed photographs from the collection of someone who was not only there, but an integral part of the Apollo space program. Live bidding is available on iCollector and Live Auctioneers. The Johnson estate begins at lot 200. Caution, as always; a quick browse showed at least a couple of autopen signatures and perhaps a questionable Buzz Aldrin signature or two. | |
