How interesting; those kids sure know how to get the word out. I did a large tour with NARcon in February, and since then, I have gone completely gonzo, adding the following not-yet-documented artifacts to the "DFJ Space Museum" as my partners are affectionately calling it: - The AOT eyepiece from the Apollo 13 Lunar Module
- Apollo 16 A7L Bioharness used on lunar surface
- Apollo 17 LM armrest (largest piece of a LM that I have seen smuggled back)
- Apollo 16 flown AOT eyepiece
- Gemini 12 flashlight used by Buzz Aldrin on his EVA
- Apollo 15 PLSS Oxygen cover (used on three lunar surface EVAs)
- Apollo 15 PLSS Cable from Commander Dave Scott
- Apollo 13 Soup Bag
- Apollo 18 ASTP Star Map used to guide reentry
- Apollo 12 flown cue card
- Lunar Module Translation Control Assembly... The incredibly iconic "LM joystick," and perhaps the only one to ever come to auction
- Apollo Rotation Hand Grip Controller
- Lunar Traverse Gravimeter (a beautiful display version of the Apollo 17 gold-plated experiment package)
- Apollo Block I Control Panel #25
- Apollo Sextant
- Mercury Atlas Turbine Assembly from 1956
- X-15 Helium Pressure Regulator
- CM X-X strut
- Several huge prints of the dark side of the moon from the Lunar Orbiter in 1966
- Some beautiful new meteorites
- Russian Orlan EVA glove (fun to wear)
- Russian EVA hammer (always good to have a hammer on space walks )
- Russian Buran Control Panel
- Mir fire extinguisher
I am way behind on documenting them on flickr but hope to catch up this summer. Any info, documents, stories or historical photos of them always welcome. Thanks! |

Is there a list of what would be bidding on to view?According to post, the Flickr link is out of date, so not sure what would be seeing. Not trying to create extra work, just like to know what would be seeing, thanks. |

Thanks. The flickr link goes to a number of photos, each of which links to a page of photos and details. So all of that is on display as well as the new items I listed above. It includes flown spacecraft hardware detached from the Apollo 10, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 17 Lunar Modules. In addition to a small component from Eagle, I have the prototype build of the Apollo 11 flag, and the Goodwill 2" silicon disc that Buzz left on the moon, and the Grumman hand written engineering notes for Eagle as the day and night shifts wrote to each other about all the open issues. I might also have the largest Liberty Bell 7 artifact outside the Cosmosphere – the radio from the capsule. I also have a bunch of unflown engines, from the little R4D on the LM to the large LMDE and perhaps the only complete RL-10 in private hands. | |
