The autographs in lot 29, McKay; lot 59, Apollo 1; lot 91, Armstrong; and especially lot 285, bunch of astronauts, are in need of careful analysis. |

Thanks for your comments Bob.Lot 29 matches other McKay autographs we have seen. Definitely genuine. Lot 91 was an "in-the-mail" autograph from Armstrong in the late 1980s. Lot 285 is 100% genuine all in-person signatures acquired at the same time as described. No doubt whatsoever. Lot 59 is debatable. We would be happy to send it for a COA after the auction if requested by the buyer. We have received both positive and negative comments on it. If the comments change our opinion, we will withdraw the lot. Thanks again. We appreciate your help. |

Thank you, Alan. As usual, your auction has much desirable and authentic material. With autographs there will always be variants and atypical material and various opinions on them. While opinions may differ on the Apollo 1 crew signed photo in lot 59, the Armstrong autograph in lot 91, said to be from a late '80's mail-in request, is an unusual and hastily applied example and should fall in the atypical category. The Jack McKay autograph in lot 29 has little in common with more typical and standard examples, as shown in this example below, and should be considered atypical at best. |

Thanks for your comments Bob. McKay appears to have sometimes used a cursive style signature and sometimes a block letter type signature. Both are legitimate. Rushed Armstrong signatures can be described as "atypical", "rushed" or "unusual". It is up to the buyer whether to purchase a given item for his or her collection. I wouldn't presume to decide for someone else. The auction market will set the price with "typical" signatures usually going higher than "atypical" (but not always). |

It's interesting to note the different opinions from two different sides of the business and the methods of persuasion used. This auction is loaded with cool stuff though |
