I just found out that Aurora's new catalog will be available online any day, and the auction dates will be March 20th and 21st, 2010. |

Does anyone know anything about this auction? Is Aurora coming back into the business or are they cleaning out their back room of material from the past? Their website shows that this is a "space/historical/automobilia" auction. |

The Aurora auction was postponed a week. It's now online, and I was told that catalogs will not be sent. |

I have to admit that I was astonished at how insanely low the legit autographs sold for. $30 for a "Jumping John" autographed photo? I couldn't believe how much sold for under $50. I think the biggest deal was the Apollo 15 "wives pin" for $1500. I have a feeling that there are a bunch of very disappointed consignors right now. |

In my opinion, I do not feel this was a 'legit' signature. Sadly, I think someone wasted $30.00. There were plenty other astronaut forgeries, Roosa, Shepard, etc. in the auction as well. You can sure tell what auctions were NOT screened by Scott Cornish! |

The JJ shot was up and down so quickly, I couldn't see it that well. I was more astonished by the price to look at the signature. |

I wasn't crazy about many of the signed photos in this auction, but can anyone point out good buys made on the publications, red serial number photos, hardware, and other items of more certain authenticity?I was the top bidder on lot 212, the General Dynamics, Convair Division Mercury-Atlas contractors model. It's not in pretty shape, but I've always liked the Atlas a lot, and I'm happy to now have my first contractors model. I'd like to think that it was a good deal at $34. Maybe I should be addressing this in "Models & Toys", but can anyone say what they think of this one? |

You got a heck of a deal on the Topping Mercury Atlas model. I won a few things from Aurora a few years back using online bidding and they came up with some excuse saying that a mail bid out bid me AFTER the auction! That was it for me! My Aurora days are over! I hope they stick to your bid price and sell it to you. |

I'd agree there. This seemed to be the best piece of auction software out there. No bandwidth lags as with Heritage and no Regency hiccups.Some pieces were insanely cheap ($60 for a 16x20 signed by Scott) while others, like the MR-4 Grissom launch failed to meet their (very high) reserves. As Gerry says, though, there were some traps for the unaware. |

It was actually marked as PASSED at the end which I think means it failed to meet the reserve. |

The thing that bothered me the most - and maybe it's just because I'm a creature of habit - I like to have a hard copy of the auction catalog in my hands while I'm bidding. I also like to make notes and write in comparisons from old catalogs. I felt like I was flying blind during this auctions. There wasn't enough time to study the online catalog or to bounce back and forth between the online version and the ongoing auction. But as Mint said, there were a lot of very questionable signatures. Lots of bad Cernan's and one especially bad Schirra [who forges a Schirra?]
I'm just curious to see how the half dozen things look when they eventually arrive. If I'm displeased, they'll go back. Aurora can't risk upsetting any more customers.So, is Bonham's next? |

Which were the bad Cernans?I missed early part of auction so not sure how much the Armstrongs went for. Nobody bought a lot of the flown Russian flags, even though price dropped. |

Out of boredom on Saturday I watched and won a few lots in the Aurora auction. I didn't spend much and was just looking for opinions on the two lots with autographs that I won. - Lot 601: Shuttle, Ken Mattingly and Bob Overmyer Autographs
- Lot 754: Brand, Overmyer, Allen & Lenoir Autographs

I won a couple of lots at this auction and assume that I will eventually get an invoice, but no luck yet contacting Aurora for how to pay for these. Does anyone know if invoices have been sent. I haven't heard a word from Aurora on the lots I won. Maybe a few more days? |
