For the last 40+ years there has been a museum of transportation southwest of Fort Worth, Texas. This museum has closed. The majority of the collection -- automobiles -- will be auctioned on June 5 by RM Auctions.

The Pate Museum of Transportation's Grumman HU-16 is being disassembled now for a trip to Clearwater, FL, for a Coast Guard memorial.

They had a nice space collection, too, including a Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo capsules of various types. Almost all of these had spacesuit mock-ups in them. They had a container for a monkey called a "chimp couch."

I suggest looking at Flickr.com and searching under "Pate Museum" to look at the stuff.

I have asked the current owner about her plans for the non-automotive stuff and will post it here.

Sorry people... this has turned into a news item, not a possible auction... the space stuff from Pate is going to a museum in Lansing, Illinois.

All times are CT (US)
