RR Auction has implemented a 30 minute rule on a per lot basis. Each lot will now have its own timer and individually will close 30 minutes after the last bid. Please let us know your thoughts, concerns and criticisms. At the very least, This will resolve the problems of staying up all night. As always, we are extremely grateful for the support of this Forum. Regards, Bobby ------------------ Bobby Livingston Vice President, Sales and Marketing RR Auction |

Very very good news. The old rules, under which every single lot was pushed back because somebody bid on one, were pretty frustrating. True, this will still sometimes result in a sleep-deprivation battle of wills between two bidders- which one wants that lot bad enough to stay up after the fifth last-minute bid?- but it's an improvement.Steve |

A helpful improvement Bobby, together with the Live BidTracker function. It'll still mean an early morning start for those of us on GMT, though! On another matter, can you advise when the photos will be restored to the Past Auction search? In the absence of a hard-copy catalogue, RR seems to be the only auction house where the collector has no photographic record (physical or virtual) of past sold items. The usefulness of this speaks for itself. Thanks, Paul |

I have asked about the past auction photos at least three times and have never received a reply from R&R. Those photos were a wonderful resource. I have seen ebay sellers offering "reprints" of some items that have passed through R&R. Possibly this has something to do with their decision? I do really miss the photos. |

I understand the disappointment for the past auction site not having pictures because we all find it very useful. I do apologize for the inconvenience. We are working on a solution that will now become a priority now that the 30 minute rule is in place. As you pointed out, the major reason we took it down was because people were stealing our images and selling reprints. Someone pays $27,000 for an Armstrong check and now there are facsimiles all over the place. In the meantime, if you need to see certain images, email me the links and I will send them to you. Regards, Bobby |

Possibly the results with photos could be within a password protected section of your website with access only to active R&R buyers and sellers? Non-customers have the opportunity to print out the PDF that is provided at each auction's end. Since your results information is not public domain seems to me that if you don't buy or sell through R&R this information should not be made available to you anyway. Just an idea. I would really love to see those photos come back, but I certainly understand if they do not. |

Thanks for the prompt reply, Bobby. Maybe a transparent watermark would be the solution? |

We tried watermarks but with 200,000 images, the watermark covered the signatures on several thousand and the watermark is easily photoshopped on thousands more. We are working on a flash solution. The past auction search is currently up with photos. |
