Thanks to everyone for making the July Lunar Legacies auction a success – the next one will be held on November 14th. The work involved with the auction has now wound down a bit, and I am presently adding to the straight sale website (left side links on the lunarlegacies.com website). I had a large update of items a few days ago and will be putting on new items all this week, including all the items that didn’t sell in the latest auction. Please take a look and thanks very much!Donnis J. Willis lunarlegacies.com |

A quick update on my straight sales website and the upcoming auction. I have added many rare patches to the straight sales website the last couple days with about 25 more to be listed in the next few days. As before, all these new items have a "NEW" gif image attached to them. As for the auction to take place on Saturday November 14th, there are currently listed about 30-40 items with probably 400+ more items to list. Included in the auction will be a substantial collection of vintage Lunar Module memorabilia, along with more Apollo checklists, star charts and lunar maps. Additionally, there will be more Gemini and Apollo hardware plus the regular assortment of autographs and rare books and manuals. Please visit the website (lunarlegacies.com) and follow the link provided. Remember, all straight sale page links appear on the left and auction pages are on the right. Hope to see everyone there! The time is here for the 3rd Lunar Legacies Space memorabilia auction to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Radisson in Cape Canaveral, FL.Registration is now open for live internet bidding on Proxibid.com. All you have to do is follow the link to the Proxibid registration page I have provided on every auction page at lunarlegacies.com. Currently, there are over 200 lots listed on the Lunar Legacies site, with at least 200 more to go. All lots will be uploaded to Proxibid on or about November 1st, and at that time pre-bids will be accepted. Some of the interesting items in this auction will be several Apollo checklists, including Lunar Module Activation Checklists and Lunar Surface Checklists, and many Apollo CSM and LM manuals such as Apollo Operations Handbooks and Lunar Module Systems Handbooks. Additionally, there are many autographs including an Apollo 11 signed photo, and many badges and rare patches. Other interesting items include lunar surface material collection bags, Gemini spacecraft panels and equipment, a full set of Apollo 13 cue cards and Lunar Module star charts. And of course, there will be many, many non-high end items of interest listed. Hope to see everyone there, and thanks for helping make the last auction a success! Please feel free to email me at lunarlegacies@gmail.com with any questions or comments. |

Has anyone else had a problem logging in to proxibid? If you're an idiot like me, and have forgotten your proxibid username, there seems to be no where to go on their site to get it. I can only find a link to request a forgotten password... where you have to type in your username. If you've forgotten your username, you're apparently out of luck. |

I had the same problem about a year ago, and I had to call Proxibid to prove my identity over the phone. (I can't remember how.) Then they told me or e-mailed me my information. However, perhaps someone can report a better method. |

Hello Steve - my understanding from proxibid is that each user name is linked to an email address and two or more user names can't be linked to the same address. Two ways around it - you can register using a different email address than you did before and then pick any user name to go with it, or you can check your emails - I will send you the user name you used in July privately after I am finished posting, and will send it to your email address given here in cS. Hope this helps. |

Thanks Donnis, but it's taken care of.I contacted proxibid and they emailed me my username. With that, I was able to reset my password, and I'm good to go! |

I checked out the problem and its a service outage From Northern Florida to Ga and parts of North Carolina. The estimated time to be fixed is anywhere from one to two hours. Thanks for your patience... |

Another outstanding auction, guys! Congratulations! There were sure some folks with deep pockets out there today. The heated back-and-forth over the Apollo 16 Rover manual made me think that the price of the book was going to exceed the cost of the Rover. The Apollo training manuals also went for a pretty penny. I was happy to pick up a few bargains. Thanks again for helping me spend my Saturday avoiding raking leaves! |

Awesome way to spent my afternoon and night. I really have a great time looking how people are each time more interested on space. I want to see some opinions about the auction. If you could choose one item, which one do you thing would you choose? Also which five items were the best, without looking the price, of the auction? |

Yes, another great auction by Lunar Legacies! Congrats to Donnis and Jan and all the others who make this happen. I found several really nice items (I really enjoy the training docs with annotations and have always loved landmark maps). But I have to say that I am most curious about the Apollo 16 Rover manual (lot 389) mentioned above. Definitely a nice piece of history with James Sisson's note and autograph (I just looked him up - he was the manager of the Lunar Rover program). Really surprising this commanded such a high price relative to so many other unique items, but I have to admit I have never seen one before. |

Thank you for another wonderful auction! I *did* rake all my leaves so I missed a good portion of the mid-day lots. But I had fun watching, and picked up my first piece of Gemini memorabila. Yes, it did seem like there were a couple of bidders with endless pockets, but if they can do it, more power to them. With some people winning 30-40 lots today, I just want to see what their overall collection looks like! |

I am curious as to why several STS-51L (Challenger) items received no bids. Is it considered "taboo" or bad taste to collect items from that mission? Or were they just not interesting items? |

My favorites were the items used by the Apollo 13 in training. The two best: - Lot 322, the Apollo 13 Lunar Module Contingency Checklist (which apparently had annotations by Lovell and Haise); and,
- Lot 326, the Complete Set of Apollo 13 Lunar Module Cue Cards
Sure, flown documents and cue cards are wonderful, but how fascinating it would be to own something used extensively by astronauts, knowing that the training in this specific case certainly helped save the lives of the crews. And while I know the movie "Apollo 13" isn't exactly a documentary, it would be neat knowing that when Bill Paxton as Fred Haise says will take "Three hours, by the checklist" to power up the lunar module, he's talking about THAT checklist. |

Sorry, but I'm puzzled. I logged onto proxibid to look at some lots and high-bid amounts were shown. Surely these bids should be kept secret? If you find out that your bid is insufficient to start with, where is the fun and anticipation in that? |

I'm certainly no bidding expert, but I think I can give you an idea....The "High Bid" shown is really the current bid based on pre-bidding. So if I was the first one to bid on a lot which had an opening bid of $50 and my PRIVATE pre-bid was entered at $100 then you would NOT see my max private bid of $100. Instead the lot would show a current opening of something like $60 (I believe). And if you then elect to place a bid of $70 the current bid would be bumped up but I would still be the high bidder at $80 and you would not have any idea what my max private bid was unless you exceeded it. I believe this is the gist of it. Another thing to be aware of are bidding increments (the allowed increments that can be placed on a lot depending on the current price). There is usually a bidding increment table posted. For example, on lots greater than $500 the bidding increments are typically $50 (vs, lots less than $100 have bidding increments of only $5). Hope that helps... |

Hello again everyone and thanks again for making the auction a success. My apologies to everyone – I wrote earlier in the week that I was sick but was getting better. However, in the last couple days I have been a dead man walking. Getting better again hopefully for good, but this has put me way off schedule. I will get everybody’s auction invoice out to them by the end of this weekend and hopefully all packages out within the next week. Thanks for your patience. |
