Regency-Superior Auctions, the country's leading auctioneer of Space Memorabilia, is traveling to two major cities to conduct free Appraisal Clinics.

The company will be hosting these clinics in Cape Canaveral, Florida on Saturday and Sunday, November 17-18th at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral. Two weeks later, Regency-Superior will travel to Houston, Texas on Saturday, December 1st at the Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake Hotel.

Regency-Superior will have their space experts on hand to evaluate, appraise and assist collectors wishing to get top dollar for their space-related and early aviation memorabilia. Collectors are encouraged to bring any astronaut autographs, flown flags and equipment, uniforms, medallions, models, crew patches, documents, and commemorative presentations for auction.

A King James Bible inside a beta cloth zippered pouch flown aboard ALL Skylab Missions, sold for $7,500. Additionally, models of various prototypes and craft are extremely desirable. A 1964 LEM NASA concept model sold for $8,000. This four-part model was made by a master modeler at Johnson Space Center Technical Services, and was on display for many years at JSC.

A distinguished-looking older gentleman walked into a small meeting room at the Marriott Hotel and told the appraiser who'd set up shop there for the day that his wife had some "junk" she wanted him to look at.

For Alan Lipkin - who specializes in space memorabilia - what the woman with the man was carrying inside her paper sack could either be a gold mine or a dud. He's been appraising other people's stuff for years, and he's seen it go both ways.

I have held several 'Space Memorabilia Appraisal Clinics" over the past couple of years in several different U.S. Cities. These have included: Houston, TX, Titusville, FL, Huntsville, AL & Washington, D.C.

People have brought all sorts of material for evaluation as to its value and or suitability for auction.

I have two questions:

1. What do you think of changing the name of these "Space Memorabilia Appraisal Clinics" to "Space Road Shows"?
   
2. Where would you recommend that I go in the future for these shows?

Unless you think it's too long, I think that the name that will make anyone realize exactly what is going on (that is, what they should bring to get looked at) would be
"Space Memorabilia Appraisal Road Show."

Robert, much as I would like to attend the Ohio show, it is only one week after our October Space Memorabilia auction, it is too close to schedule. We are looking at our calendar for the rest of 2008 & all of 2009 and will come up with a schedule of "Road Shows".

So far "Space Collectibles Road Show" seems to be in the lead for a "title". Space Memorabilia is a bit too much of a mouth-full.
