Aurora's auction is one week from today, but they haven't yet posted a catalog.

Maybe you can just bid on "Lot #27", and find out later what you won...

With Aurora's past record, are people really going to bid in this auction?

I'm just surprised anyone is even consigning stuff with them anymore.

With less than 3 days before the advertised start date of this auction, has anyone seen a catalog yet (either print or online)?

It's not posted online yet. If I had consigned items (and I did not), I would not be pleased that the catalog is not issued yet.

At this point, many potential bidders will not have time to review the catalog or to decide whether to attend in person -- one would think that would limit the upward potential of some of the prices for the lots.

Maybe the auction will be dalayed?

My guess is that it will be a real 'live' eBay live auction. You follow in real time and the first chance you get to see what an item is will be when the lot opens.

As you desperately try to judge if the item is junk or moondust the ever-helpful "Try to bid faster" message will appear and the "Fair Warning - this lot is about to close" message will pop up about 2 seconds after the lot opens.

Just think of the excitement!

Called Aurora today regarding the auction. Found out that it's currently scheduled for later in June (I believe they said June 14 & 15?).

Its amazing with all the problems with Aurora that people still want to give them their business with all the other options available

A question regarding the December 2007 Aurora Space & Aviation Memorabilia Auction... If the winning bidder for lot 346 (Original NASA 4 page teletype Mission Status Message) reads this post will you please email me offlist?

Thanks,

I just received my hard copy catalog in today's mail for the June 28-29th auction. This auction is 100% plastic model kits, built and unbuilt.

There is a note on the inside of the catalog that the Space Memorabilia auction will be on July 19th.

I have to admit, this particular catalog brought back a lot of fond old memories. A collection like this must have come from one consignor who has accumlated one helluva collection of aviation models. I'd be very surprised if this came from multiple sources.

It's now 3 days before the auction, and the catalog is still not posted on Aurora's web site.

I suppose they might get bids from the people they mailed catalog's to, but one would think the consignor(s) would prefer to have a larger group of people considering the lots.

Oh, well.

I saw it was up on Sunday during the auction -- not sure what time it went up.

Needless to say, I did not bid.

The catalogs were actually up a few days before the auction. Unfortunately, the yellow text from the December 07 auction was left up, so a lot of people didn't realize the page had been updated. The catalogs were posted in the Past Auctions section. You'll find them there now.

I was surprised to see Aurora items on ebay today. 744 lots. This included a "Silk US Flag Flown to Lunar Surface on Apollo 11." Lot 170. It comes with a note signed by Aldrin. I own a flown US flag from Apollo 11, but I had the impression that the crew decided not to divide the flown flags between lunar orbit and surface flown. Is that not true?

Also, this online auction caught me by surprise. Is Aurora changing from it's usual Spring/Fall cycle?

I was surprised too.

Also, I noticed Aldrin's note with the flag said, "P.S. The flag went also" -- he specifically said the crosses landed on the moon, but he said the flag "went". Did it go? Or did it land? Is that note strong enough provenance to spend upwards of $20K? For someone, it probably will be, I suppose.

Just received this morning a catalogue for Aurora's Space, Aviation & Historical Memoribilia Auction that is happening TODAY, July 26 starting at 9am PST. I signed up on ebay auctions - and am waiting to hear back from Aurora for approval. With such late notice, I imagine not many people will be bidding. Rather disapointing for consigners...

I received their catalogue yesterday and it states that they are going to have another auction on Sat., August 2.

I spoke to Victoria this am (Monday). It looks like that in addition to the 2nd, they will have another space memorabilia auction on the 23rd.

Andrew,

Any word on whether Aurora is still having the August 2 auction? They have not posted any catalog or items on ebay yet. And it is already Friday afternoon. It might be a mad dash to the auction.

Hi Paul,

I don't know what to say. The July 26th catalogue does state that the next auction is tomorrow. When I spoke to Victoria on Monday, she confirmed the August 2nd auction and added that there will be another auction on the 23rd. She mentioned that she has a lot of stuff and is trying to get them listed as soon as possible.

I have a feeling that tomorrow's auction will be pushed back to the 23rd.

On a positive note, I did receive my item yesterday ;-)

Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. It just so happens that last week I just stumbled upon the Aurora auction. And in fact I bid on an amazing Shuttle Environmental Control training panel and won. I was overhwelmed with joy

I have also e-mailed you off line about San Diego news.

Paul
